Shirley Rhae (Franke) L'Heureux, 91, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026. She was born on June 8, 1934, and lived a life defined by devotion to her family and quiet strength.
She graduated from nursing school and devoted more than four decades to her calling as a registered nurse. She initially retired from the Campbell nursing home in October 1992, but her passion for caregiving led her to continue serving others at the Minden clinic for several more years before her final retirement.
On November 16, 1954, she married the love of her life, Gerald. Together they built a loving home and raised six children: Steve, Jerry, Mark, John, Linda, and Laurie. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald; sons Mark and John; brother-in-law, Marcus Clark.
She is survived by her children Steve and Steph L'Heureux of Campbell, NE; Jerry and Vickie L'Heureux of Nebraska City, NE; Linda and Doug Schwenka of Hastings, NE; and Laurie and Charlie Montover of Glenwood Springs, CO.; sisters and brother-in-law, Margot Clark of Sydney, NE and Paula (Tom) Rauert of Grand Island, NE. She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy in her life.
Shirley was a cornerstone of her community, actively involved in Saint Anne Altar Society, Saint Anne Choir, the Campbell Area Foundation, the Campbell Chamber of Commerce, and the Campbell Can-Do News.
Shirley was deeply loved and respected by all who knew her. As the matriarch of the L'Heureux family, she created a lasting legacy of love, resilience, and togetherness. She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
