Mildred was born on September 1, 1937, to Frank and Margie (Majors) Kaufman at the family farm northeast of Bladen, Nebraska. She graduated from Roseland High School in 1954 and worked at Hastings National Bank for 3 years. She was baptized and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Hastings on July 28, 1957.
On September 29, 1957, she was united in marriage to Harlan Siebrass at Trinity Lutheran Church by Rev. R.A. Jank. To this union of 64 years was born three children: Wesley, Nancy and Thomas.
Mildred worked on the farm with Harlan hauling bales, fixing fences, checking cows, roguing the crops, taking lunches to the field, mowing and so much more as the kids got older. In the house, she did all the normal activities that a housewife and mother would do. She was a wonderful seamstress and sewed clothes for her children & grandchildren. The kids remember getting off the school bus and running into the house to the smell of fresh goodies from the oven; the grandchildren and great grandchildren were excited to go to grandma’s house also because she always had their favorite home baked sweets, especially monkey bread. She was an avid Husker fan no matter the sport and enjoyed playing cards & board games. Mildred continued to be an adventurer as she rode the sky tram at the state fair at age 80 for the first time. Some of her activities outside the home were 4-H Leader for 5 years, American Legion Auxiliary Member/Secretary and L.W.M.L. Member/Circle Chairman for many years.
Mildred leaves to mourn her passing, son, Wesley (Cheryl) of Urbandale, Iowa; daughter, Nancy (Bill Buchta) of Grand Island; son, Thomas (Robert Konicek) of Pleasantville, Nova Scotia; brother, Edward (Verna) Kaufman of Bladen; 5 grandchildren, Kayla (Chad Chrastil) of Grand Island, Geoffrey Buchta (Erica) of Elkhorn, Janel Buchta (Siarra Widtfeldt) of Omaha, Aaron (Holly) Siebrass of Manassas, Va. and Keralyn Siebrass of Seoul, South Korea; 6 great grandchildren, Riley and Reese Chrastil; Bennett, Lainey and Brooks Buchta; and Frederick Siebrass.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan; her parents; sister, Elinor; and brother-in-law, Robert Bolte.
