Marion L. Swanson, 76, Hastings, Nebraska, died Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.  Memorial services are Saturday, September 29, 2018, 10:00 a.m. at Merten-Butler Mortuary Chapel, Blue Hill, Nebraska with Pastor Dale Phillips officiating.  There will be no viewing or visitation as his wishes were to be cremated.  Private family burial will be at a later date.  Memorials can be directed to the family to be designated at a later date.  Private condolences may be sent to the family at www.mertenbutlermortuary.com.  Merten-Butler Mortuary, Blue Hill, Nebraska is in charge of arrangements.

Marion was born on February 9, 1942 at Red Cloud, Nebraska to Vernon M. and Evelyn E. (Rose) Swanson.  Marion graduated from Blue Hill High School in 1960.  He served in the United States Air Force from December 3, 1963 to December 1, 1967.  Marion married Nadine (Dee) Yauk on September 6, 1964 at McCook, Nebraska.  Marion graduated from Mary Lanning School of Nursing in 1971 and worked at the Hastings Regional Center for over 37 years retiring in 1999.  He enjoyed working in his yard and gardening.  He also enjoyed fishing, boating and camping.

Marion is survived by his wife, Nadine (Dee), Hastings, Nebraska, (1) daughter, Michelle Barton, Blue Hill, Nebraska, (2) grandchildren, Merritt Barton and his Fiancee, Brittany Martin, Hastings, Nebraska, Mackenzie Barton, Blue Hill, Nebraska.  Marion was preceded in death by his parents, (1) brother, Francis Swanson and (1) sister, Cheryl Swanson.
