Marcella G. Menke, 100, Lawrence, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at Heritage of Red Cloud, Red Cloud, Nebraska. Rosary will be Thursday, October 26, 2023, 7:00 p.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church with Father Adam Sparling officiating and Mass will be Friday, October 27, 2023, 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church, Lawrence, Nebraska with Father Corey Harrison officiating. Burial will be In Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Lawrence, Nebraska. Visitation will be Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at the Lawrence Visitation Chapel and one hour prior to mass at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.mertenbutlermortuary.com. Marcella was born on November 3, 1922 to Anton and Rose (Blume) Buschkoetter in Webster County. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School through the eighth grade and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1939. Marcella married Vincent H. Menke on April 27, 1944 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lawrence, Nebraska. They made their home on the farm until moving into Lawrence in 1975. Marcella belonged to St. Stephen Catholic Church while on the farm and St. Stephen Altar Society of which she had held numerous offices. After moving into town, she belonged to Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Altar Society. They were members of the square dance club and loved to square dance. She belonged to the quilting club and loved to quilt.
Marcella is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert (Jean) Menke, Lawrence, Nebraska and Richard (Judy) Menke, Lawrence, Nebraska; one daughter and son-in-law, Marlene (Jim) Kennedy, Omaha, Nebraska; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Menke, Kearney, Nebraska; one brother-in-law, John Hubl, Lawrence, Nebraska; one sister-in-law, Eileen Buschkoetter, Lawrence, Nebraska; eleven grandchildren and thirty-two great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; one infant son, Terrance; one son, Lyle; one granddaughter; three brothers and two sisters-in-law; four sisters and three brothers-in-law.
