Lyle Bostock, 80, of Ayr NE passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024 at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. He was born in Hastings, NE to Ollie and Margarette (Reiboldt) Bostock on October 23, 1943. Lyle attended grade school just one-half mile from the family farmstead and graduated from Blue Hill High School in 1963. He married CaSandra (Sandy) Curry on October 22, 1967 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Blue Hill, Nebraska.
Lyle was a member of St Paul Lutheran Church where he served as usher and was on the church council. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 0176. Lyle farmed his entire life, at first with his father and in recent years with his sons-in-law. He served his country and state thru the Army National Guard in 1965 to 1971. Lyle’s biggest source of pride was his children and grandchildren. His favorite hobbies were camping, fishing and family. He loved tinkering with engines and was a self-taught mechanic.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Sandy, four children, Angela (Michael) Kruse of Columbus NE, Jason Bostock of Ayr NE and special friend Anne Hermann of Hastings NE, Abby (Jesse) Carman of Shelton NE, and William (Leslie) Bostock of Hastings NE; seven grandchildren, Colin Kruse of Kansas City, MO, Sara Kruse of Omaha, NE, Eli Kruse of Columbus, NE, Callee, Colton and Colby Carman of Shelton NE; and Ava Bostock of Hastings NE; brother Lonny (Norma) Bostock of Ayr NE, sisters Ollene Graham of Puyallup WA, Brenda Nichols of Nashville TN, and many extended family members. The family is comforted in knowing he is reunited with his parents, brother, Larry Bostock and brothers-in-law, Murle (Al) Graham and Darrell (Nick) Nichols.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 11th, 2024, 10:30 am at St Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Hill, NE with Pastor Becky Mohling officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 from 1:00-8:00 pm with family present from 5:00-7:00 pm at Merten-Butler Mortuary, Blue Hill, Nebraska and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial with Military Rites by A.L. Shirley Post #176 and the Army National Guard Honor’s Team will be in Blue Valley Cemetery, Ayr, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Special Olympics Hastings Alumni. The service will be live-streamed on Merten-Butler Mortuary’s Website.
