Irene P. (Utecht) Halbmaier

Irene P. Halbmaier, 105, Blue Hill, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at the Pines at Blue Hill.  Rosary will be Friday, January 24, 2025, 10:00 a.m. and Mass will be Friday, January 24, 2025, 10:30 a.m. both at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Roseland, Nebraska with Father Corey Harrison officiating.  Burial will be in the Roseland Cemetery, Roseland, Nebraska.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.  Memorials can be directed to the Roseland or Assumption Cemeteries.  The service will be live-streamed on Merten-Butler Mortuary’s website.  To view the service, go to Irene’s obituary and click on the play button towards the bottom of the page.  Merten-Butler Mortuary, Blue Hill, Nebraska is in charge of arrangements.

Irene was born on November 2, 1919, to John and Viola (Ricken) Utecht.  She graduated from Crookston High School.  She married Ervin Halbmaier on June 18, 1940, at Assumption Catholic Church.  They were married for sixty years before Ervin passed away in December of 2000.  Irene was a homemaker, seamstress and prayer warrior.

Irene is survived by two sons, Gordon Halbmaier, Bladen, Nebraska and Stanley Halbmaier, Hastings, Nebraska; one daughter and son-in-law, Dianna (Ken) Bonifas, Blue Hill, Nebraska; son-in-law, Terry Blum, Hastings, Nebraska; 13 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 42 great-great grandchildren; 4 great-great-great grandchildren.  Irene is preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Sharon Blum; daughter-in-law, Joyce Halbmaier; two sisters; one brother; and granddaughter, Kelsey Blum.
