Debra Thramer Obituary

Debra Lynn (McBride) Thramer, 61, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at the Buffett Cancer Center, Omaha, Nebraska.  Rosary will be Sunday, October 20, 2019, 7:00 p.m. at Merten-Butler Mortuary, Blue Hill, Nebraska and Mass will be Monday, October 21, 2019, 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Blue Hill, Nebraska with the Very Rev. James Schrader officiating.  Burial will be in the Blue Hill Catholic Cemetery, Blue Hill, Nebraska.  Visitation will be Sunday, October 20, 2019 from 1:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Merten-Butler Mortuary, Blue Hill, Nebraska.  A Memorial has been established to be designated at a later date.  Private condolences may be sent to the family at www.mertenbutlermortuary.com.  Merten-Butler Mortuary, Blue Hill, Nebraska is in charge of arrangements.

Debra was born on March 7, 1958 in Minden, Nebraska the youngest of six children to James S. and Pamela (Mason) McBride.  She graduated from Minden High School with the class of 1976.  She attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and studied Physical Education.  Debra was united in marriage on September 10, 1983 to Tim Thramer at St. John’s Catholic Church, Minden, Nebraska.  They lived in Norfolk, Nebraska where she was employed by North East Nebraska Sports.  In 1988 they moved to Souix Falls, South Dakota where she attained her South Dakota real estate license.  This is where their son and only child Matthew was born.  They moved to Burwell, Nebraska in 1992 purchasing a grocery store in partnership with Mike and Deb Svoboda.  In 2005 they purchased Thramer’s Food Center in Blue Hill, Nebraska and built a successful grocery, deli and catering business, contributing to and supporting the community.  Deb is a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Blue Hill, Nebraska.

In her youth, Debbie loved and became an avid swimmer, winning many medals and ribbons.  She loved boating, skiing, knee boarding and her favorite place on earth was the cabin on Harlan County Lake.  She remained active in woman’s softball for many years and in bowling leagues to this day.

Deb is survived by her husband; Tim, Blue Hill, Nebraska, son; Matthew (Madison) Thramer and only grandchild; Blakely Anne, sisters; Karen (Rod) Flesner, North Platte, Nebraska, Linda (Darrell) Novacek, Norfolk, Nebraska, brothers; Brian McBride, Avondale, Arizona, David McBride, Beaumont, Texas, mother-in-law; Lucille Knievel, Norfolk, Nebraska, sisters-in-law; Annette (Dan) Bentzinger, Olathe, Kansas, Lynn (Marc) Dennis, York, Nebraska, brothers-in-law; Ted (Cindy) Thramer, Adel, Iowa, Terry (Penny) Thramer, Norfolk, Nebraska, many nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister; Susan McBride, father-in-law; Gregory Thramer, step father-in-law; Joe Knievel, sister-in-law; Ellie McBride and nephew; Christopher McBride.
